Hulu.com, the popular video on demand website, has sealed its self off from being accessed on Skyfire 1.0. Skyfire is a relatively new application for cell phones which allows people to access content most cell phone browsers don’t support like Flash. This was very disappointing, but it seems they are doing this for a reason. If you look back a few months ago hulu did a similar thing with boxee. They blocked there content from boxee and just about a month later came out with their own desktop application. So it seems obvious what they are planning, come out with their own mobile application. If they do come out with their own mobile application how are they going to do it? There are several ways a site like hulu could go about this. They could create their own mobile applications for devices like the iPhone, Blackberry, Pal Pre, ext. However, if they do go this path their content will not be available on all devices and they will have to create applications for each device. On the other hand they could create a mobile website which could be reached by most mobile browsers; this would have a wider distribution but limit capability and quality. They could reach people either way but it would be much easier if the world could come together and create a stranded for web videos on the computer and on mobile devices.

Hulu.com recently came out with a new desktop app. This app is available for both Mac and PC and is pretty easy to use. Although can be slow at times it is still very intuitive. If you have a Windows Media Center remote or a Mac Frontrow remote you can control this software with them. Just a little while ago Hulu told Boxee and other software that they had to get rid of there link to Hulu. It is now clear why they did this, although it is a little disappointing they are not allowing there website out there. hulu.com/labs

I spent the past week taking a look at sling.com. Its from the makers of popular Sling box (I have one and must say I love it). Sling.com allows sling box users to view videos like on hulu, and soon short clips that people have captured using their sling boxes. You can also watch your sling box through Firefox, or Internet explorer browsers just by installing a plug-in. Everything worked very well and I did not run into any problems. The videos that you view on play in a sling.com’s own player but the content is streamed from sites like Hulu. We are hearing that sling.com will be coming out November 10, according to Techcrunch.com
I can’t put the reply up because it could have “bad links”, but I put up what the person said anyways.

Modernfeed.com is a site that is basically a search engine of all the online shows and content. It is a big TV guide to shows online right now. So lest say you want to search your show, well you type it in to the search box or find it by networks, A-Z, and others. When you find your show it will tell you what episodes are available and if you can download it to your Ipod or if its in HD.Then it will bring you to that site, if its on ABC, FOX, ex. and you watch the show. I find it useful although Hulu does a good job to if you prefer that.

PS: (I also saw it works on the Iphone)
