June 20, 2008 - 2:30 pm No Comments

Visual search has been around for some time. However it so far is not so impressive. zoomii.com, however change that. Zoomii.com allows you to view most books on Amazon as if you were at a book store. They are lined up on book shelfs and placed in categories. Also just like a book store they are sorted by authors last name. You can also search for one book to. Over all this is a great way search for books and to wast time. (Below is over 19,000 Books.)

acrobat.com

Adobe is leaping into the business of online tools. One of their first online tools photoshop.com, allows you to simply fix up pictures online. It may not a new concept, but it works pretty well. They also build Buzzword, which is a online word processor. Their newest online product ties in Buzzword, Adobe Connect Now, and of course Acrobat into one online tools set. Acrobat.com is a great simple to use tool kit. This site allows you to write documents (with Buzzword), create PDF’s, share files, and conduct a live online meeting (using Connect Now). All of these tools allow you to share with others.  Best of all as of now they are all free. I would of liked to see the PDF maker to be a little more useful, but worked just fine. All in all I think this is a nice site with good looks.

BigScreeenLive

Today we took a look at Bigscreenlive.com. Bigscreenlive is a program that allows you to serf the internet, and navigate the computer easily. It is mostly made for seniors citizens who did not grow up in the computer or internet age. Over all it is a great program and easy to use. However I found the inbox area and the news area to be a little clunky. And I think the price might be  a little high for what it does, $9.95 a month. It is worth trying out for 30 days though. Check out the latechna video below for more info…

Thanks to Webware.com for the hint on bigscreeenlive.

Laurie's Visit 042

Have you ever wanted to sue someone, something, or even the weather. Well go over to allrise.com, and do just that. You tell what you are suing and why. As soon as you post it, it is off into the communities hands. The community then decides whether they or it is guilty. Although you are not actually suing it or them, it is still fun to play around.

wham:a different corner

Seesmic.com, a video response website, (check it out for your self), has come out with a Wordpress plug-in. This little plug-in allows you to record videos within Wordpress. However the big thing about this plug-in is it allows readers to leave video comments on your site, without leaving your site. Check out there wiki for more information on the plug-in.

This is a interesting site. Retrievr, allows you to draw your search. Basically you draw the picture you want and it searches pictures from Flicker from what you drew. Thanks to Tekzilla for finding this site, (look at there video below).

Viewzi.com

April 28, 2008 - 9:45 pm No Comments

Visual search has been around for some time. The concept is interesting but dose not always work. However I found Viewzi.com. Viewzi seems to work beacuse it gives you different ways to search the web. They have Screenshoot view, weather view, basic photo view, and others. Over all I think it works. And I think it can only get better if they allow others to build upon there platform. Take a look at the video below for our full look.

Video Coming as soon as it uploads…

latechna Review ~ Oosah.com

April 25, 2008 - 8:21 pm No Comments

You probably know a lot about sites that allow you to store and share your files online. We have tested some including SugarSync. However today we are taking a look at Oosah.com. oosah is a site that not only allows you to store up to 2 GB of you videos, photos, and music, but once uploaded to the service it allows you to put them in places including Youtube, Flickr, and more. It is mostly flashed based and pretty responsive. I found it to be one of the simpler storage sites out there. However right now in beta there are a lot of glitches. Plus the folder system could improve. Over all though it is a great product and worth a try. Check out latechna video’s review below for more…
